PS3 version of F.E.A.R 2 will not be a port

Many Playstation 3 fans with their eye on F.E.A.R 2, the sequel to 2005’s horror title, are wondering if they are going to get a lazy port from the PC/Xbox 360 version. The short answer is no. Dave Matthews the primary art lead for F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin has assured fans that this will not be the case.

Mathews has been speaking with CVG and said that he believes poor console ports of the first game caused the series to loose some potential fans. I have to agree with this statement.

Now we’re handling all three versions, we’ve changed our development structure to develop all three SKUs simultaneously and there’s no lead platform. While there will be some slight variations between the different versions, so if you’re on PC you can push some things further, our main goal is to make sure the experience is synonymous across all three platforms.

So there you go, no need to worry about getting a rubbish port of the game. In fact, i’ve just pre-ordered my copy.

Sega classics could make their way to PSN

Wouldn’t it be amazing to play all those Sega classics again especially the Sonic series, i would deffinately buy them on Playstation Network.

It could be happening guys and gals as it’s odd to hear the ESRB has posted ratings for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Phantasy Star II, Comix Zone and Gunstar Heroes for distribution on Playstation Network.

No release dates or anything as of yet but we’re guessing this is going to happen next year.

Which Sega classics would you like to see?

Sony to break even in 2009

When the Playstation 3 launched Sony admitted that they are losing money everytime they sold  one. Nowadays the PS3 cost half as much to manufacture bringing it to approx $445 from $840. According to a number of analysts including iSuppli, it could make Sony break-even next year.

Back in 2006, Sony sold a $840 PS3 for around $600, along with another model (possibly the 20GB version) $805 for $500. This means Sony has made a loss on every PS3 sold to date.

Sony has took a number of measures to bring the cost of making PS3’s down, these include; using smaller chips, taking out PS2 chip, reducing size of HDD, removing USB ports, removing card readers and more.

That said, Sony will begin to gain a profit soon. Good move? Only time will tell.

Rumour: Dead Rising could hit PSN

John Diamonon of Capcom has recently posted on the Official Playstation Blog and basically states that there is a surprise coming our way!

After reading through what he has to say, something struck me, what does this mean:-

Oh yeah, there’s also a big (sentence deleted by Capcom and SCEA PR ninjas)….Can you believe it? Wow, how can you not be excited about that? I’m just glad that I was finally able to talk about it. It’s been a long time coming but I’m ecstatic that it’s actually going to happen.

Did John write something he was meant to keep quite about?

Take a look at comment number 35, you will see that a user asked about Dead Rising, John didn’t completely deny it, he just said he didn’t announce it. What do you think?

Haze developer for sale

You read it almost everywhere, but it was never confirmed. Starting on December 31st Free Radical will only have 40 people working at their studio. Then it’s the wait on which company will scoop up the remaining people and it’s projects.

Despite the Star Wars: Battlefront III deal gone sour after two years of development, Timesplitters 4 makes it interesting for other companies to take over the troubled studio after the disappointing Haze reception. Plus the two remaining secret projects according to an employee make the studio even more attractive.

Europe to get Killzone 2 first

North America was the first to get Killzone back in 2004 but now it seems the roles have turned around and Europe will be getting Killzone 2 prior to their North America comrades.

PlayFrance let know that they have a (atleast in France) release date for the game. On February 25th, French retailers will start to sell the game according to some specialist stores. You can expect the rest of Europe to have the same release date as them.

Tomb Raider only in HD on PlayStation 3

Maxconsole discovered a post about the latest Tomb Raider. It seems the game runs at 1280×720, 2xAA (with quincunx) on the PlayStation 3 but only 1024×576, 2xAA on the 360.

The exact reason why this is will be hard to tell but with the Tomb Raiders past on the PlayStation and the game selling less on the Xbox 360 compared to it’s competitor it might be the developers prefered the PlayStation above the Xbox 360.

White Knight Chronicles gets a good first day

Despite the above average rating by Famitsu, reports have come out on the games first day sales in Japan. White Knight managed to sell around 100,000 copies of the game on it’s first day.

This can be some good news for other regions as it increases their chances of getting the game (soon).
