Cold Front DLC available in 2010 for Europe

That’s what SCEE representive Mike Kebby had as an answer to a question raised by one of many people wondering why it wasn’t on the list.

It seems Europe has taken another back seat with Socom: Confrontations, something which will definitely disappoint the already fragile gamer base in Europe. Despite the 1.60 update which should have been what the game must have been from the start, many we’re ‘coming back’ for the DLC. But with a game like MAG coming a few weeks (or even shorter depending how late Europe gets it) after the new year, will gamers still be interested in picking it up for a price that will be equal to the dollar price (£12,99/€14,99) like we’ve seen in the past with other games/add-ons.

North America will still be able to enjoy the downloadable content from today for $9.99. Then after the 20th of December the price will go up to $14.99.

Through media Go 1.3 you can now transfer video and photo playlists from you PC to PSP. Simply copy the playlists from the PS3 XMB.

The Digital Comics reader is now available to download for PSP  but you” have to wait till December 2009 for the Comic store to open starting in the following countries: UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. More countries will following in 2010 just like with the Video Store. Visit http://www.playstationcomics.com/ for more info .

Keep an eye out on twitter as they will be releasing comic voucher around 19.00 GMT

PSN remains free subscription is for premium content and services

We had not even send out email out for a while or VG247 already has an answer back.

It seems we don’t have to worry about ‘doing a Xbox Live’. Through SCEE, Kaz Hirai let the following know

SCE will further increase sales by offering users new entertainment through the combination of hardware, software, peripheral and PlayStation Network. Especially in the online area, we are studying the possibility of introducing a subscription model, offering premium content and services, in addition to the current free services

So under premium we can say Qore? MMO based subscriptions? Well as long as standard online play is free we don’t mind.

Source: VG247

Subscription coming to PSN?

VG247 made a post about a slide at the Media/Investor Conference. Slide 39 shows that there will be a “new revenue stream from subscription”. What this subscription might be, they don’t know yet and as do we so far (we’ve contacted out SCEE rep). Though the PlayStation Network is listed as a key advantage on the PlayStation 3.

Could it perhaps be a subscription for the comic store? Or is it the thing we’ve dreaded the most, online subscription like with it’s counterpart Xbox Live.

What do you think it might be?

Media Go updated to 1.3

The portable management software has been updated to 1.3 and contains some handy features.

  • Download status is now displayed, letting you know how long until you can start playing that new game
  • You can also now pause your downloads allowing you to control which items in the list download first
  • System update notice: when you plug your PSP into your PC it will automatically suggest you update to the latest PSP system software if you haven’t already.
  • Bonus Digital Copy: Media Go 1.3 now detects if there is extra bonus copy for your PSP on a DVD or Blu-ray disc.
  • Playlist transfer: Video and Music playlist transfer from your PC to your PSP in Media Go 1.3
  • Media Go now supports Windows 7 and you get some nifty little features like transfer progress on the Windows task bar.

  • Comics tab: This is to allow you organize all your digital comics when they launch on the Store in December 2009

Though SCE isn’t re-inventing the wheel, they’re doing a good job at catching up and making sure the software makes full use of the hardware they supply.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Beta starts tomorrow

Dice producer Gordon van Dyke talked to Jeff Rubenstein via the Eye chat. The most interesting thing was how Gordon explained how one could get into the beta.

Firmware 3.10 imminent?

Yesterday we confirmed that firmware 3.10 was in the making. Now it seems the firmware might be here sooner then we think (we hope today rather then tomorrow).

In some parts of Europe special on-demand TV sites will be included in the firmware. Here the announcement slipped up on some info.

Television lovers in other parts of Europe can now enjoy faster access to catch-up on TV with the addition of the following on-demand TV sites to the XMB over the next few days

Depending on how you interpret it, this can mean that in following days they will be adding more TV sites to the working firmware. They will make more announcements on which TV sites will be joining or what we’re thinking after the release of firmware 3.10 they will be adding more channels.
The following TV channels will be included: RTVE, Antena 3 and LaSexta in Spain. NOS in the Netherlands. AXN/Animax in Czech, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovakia.

This move is centering the PlayStation 3 more and more in your livingroom, making it a device which will suit your everyday needs (except some).

Nothing so far on cross-game chat being included in this firmware. But as a EU spokesperson said, they’re working on it, but can’t give a specific date.

Final Fantasy XIII release date announced

It’s finally official, Final Fantasy XIII will launch on March 9, 2010. Four years after it was announced the game will finally reach North America and Europe. Months later then it’s Japanese release date.

John Yamamoto, President of Square Enix, Inc had this to say

We know that our fans have been eagerly awaiting the next installation of the franchise Final Fantasy XIII will exceed all expectations. Coming simultaneously to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for the first time, Final Fantasy XIII will be available to all players who are looking for the most immersive gaming experience of 2010

This might sound weird, but I’m advising all gamers to save their holiday money which they intent to use to buy games with christmas and use it for games in the first 5 months of 2010 as this schedule is going to be packed!
