The real way to unlock Akuma and Gouken

4372akuma

Earlier last week, Capcom posted on their blog how they discovered that many users already unlocked Akuma but found that there is a quicker way to get him (and Gouken) then most user created guides showed.

Here is the step by step walk through:

To unlock Akuma as a playable character:

  1. Unlock Cammy, Fei Long, Dan, Sakura, Rose, and Gen.
  2. Pick a character you have already used to beat Arcade Mode.
  3. Win all your matches without continuing and without losing any rounds before fighting with Seth.

You need to get at least one “perfect” win in a round, and more than one depending on how many rounds per match you are playing.

  • 1 round match: 1 perfect round or more
  • 3 round match: 2 perfect rounds or more
  • 5 round match: 3 perfect rounds or more
  • 7 round match: 4 perfect rounds or more

(including the last battle against Seth)

If you meet these conditions, Akuma will appear. Defeat him to unlock Akuma as a selectable character.

The Street Fighter Training Manual made available by Capcom

Capcom posted (their own) ‘The Street Fighter Training Manual’. It’s full of great art, info and techniques for characters, and an interview Seth Killian.

The link is having a lot of traffic so it will take while before you got it. We suggest you simply download it rather then read it through your browser.

They also posted a video showing some of the basics of the Street Fighter 4 tutorial. made by Anil Das Gupta (Capcom Europe employee). Check it after the break. Read more

Playstation Blog gives users Motorstorm 2 tips

We all know that you sometimes lack that extra second in a speed race or trial map to get that winners medal. Well for Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Game Director Nigel Kershaw has decided to give you some tips to be that winner.

After the first helping hand on how to improve your driving this is one is mainly aimed for speed races.

There are 5 points he tells you to remember:

  • Getting gold on these, especially later in the game, is supposed to be hard. However none of them are impossible…I’ve completed them all myself with a good few seconds to spare, and I’m not that good at the game.
  • Expect the unexpected. Some of the speed races follow pretty standard track loops, while others mess with your head by gallivanting all over the tracks in strange directions. If it’s your first time in a particular speed race, don’t just sail through a gate expecting to be lined up perfectly for the next one. Be cautious and pay attention.
  • Practice. Unless you’re some kind of god, you’re not going to get these babies the first time out, especially on the later levels. Give them a test run first, and learn where those illusive gates are.
  • Learn to drive efficiently
  • Be careful with the time – early on in a speed race, crossing a gate will reward you with a generous slice of time on the clock. Don’t get complacent, because the later gates will give you increasingly less time on your clock. Getting a good bank of time early on will allow the odd mistake later in the race.

I’m still waiting on my copy of the game to arrive from Simplygames to try out these tips.

Namco Museum brings suprise to Japanese Home

As gamers in Europe try to squeeze onto Home, the people in Japan were rewarded with a little surprise.

Namco opened a demo of their special museum, named Namco Museum Beta which enables you to unlock special items for use in Home.
Once you jump onto the Japanese Playstation Store you will be able to download the demo which contains playable games as Pac-Man, Galaga, Dig Dug, and Xevious. Getting a high score will result in you getting items like in the Home version of echochrome. The people at Joystiq were able to win a Galaga T-Shirt so far but their are rumours of you being able to claim your own Galaga arcade machine
for you Summer House or Harbour pad.

Your also able play it in the US version of Home, once you’ve downloaded it from the Japanese Store. We can’t confirm at the moment if it works on the European Home.

Linger In Shadows Dated

Sony’s Interactive Art, Linger in Shadows has finally got a release date. The interactive art will be releasing in next weeks store update, October 9th.

Hi all, my name is Rusty Buchert and I am the Sr. Producer for Linger in Shadows. Some of you may have heard about it already from coverage here and there, but there are a lot of questions surrounding this unique title. It will be releasing on the PlayStation Network on October 9, so I wanted to explain today about what Linger is and what it isn’t. I’ll start with the easier side, and that is Linger in Shadows is NOT a game. It was never meant to be a game and it will never be a game. Yes it has trophies, but it still isn’t a game and I’ll explain why a little later on.

Who Wants to Make Their Very Own Sackboy?

Adam from South England made himself a very own sackboy. The reasoning for making the sackboy costume was for a festival.

I just decided to make a Sackboy – a character from the game Little Big Planet – as a costume for a festival called Bestival and thought that I’d document the process so other people could make their own.

It’s pretty simple too

You can find the steps on making it here.

Clarification on PS2-PS3 SingStar Compatability

Alyssa Casella over at the PlayStation.Blog gave a rundown on how the PS2 SingStar songs can be played on the PS3 SingStar. The ability to play your PS2 SingStar songs on the PS3 version is enabled through a disc swap feature.

While playing a SingStar PS3 disc, at the song select screen, hit the [select] button to swap discs and play the songs from the inserted disc. The songs are not saved to the hard drive.

The feature can be used on all current PS3 models, a system update is not necessary but a game update will be necessary. The feature will also work on future SingStar PS3 titles.

How to turn PS3 off while in-game with firmware 2.4+

Quite a lot of users have emailed in asking how they can turn off their Playstation 3 while in-game. Firmware 2.4 added in-game Cross Media Bar and when you press the PS button it brings up the XMB. I’ll answer the question in this post so its a bit more wide spread.

To turn the system off while in-game simply keep your finger on the PS button and it will bring the old menu up with the quit, controller options, turn off system, and turn off controller.

So, press the PS button to bring the XMB up, press and hold the PS button to bring the old menu up. Simple.

I hope this helps some of you out there.
