Back in 2005, Sony showed the world ‘that Killzone 2 video‘, everyone was stunned, many people doubted the video as being ‘fake’.
Killzone 2 has come a very long way but one question is still remaining… are all the cutscenes CGI-Animated?
The short answer is no. Guerilla Games recently confirmed on the US Official Playstation forums that there will not be (or not interested in doing a CGI-based movie) any CGI based cutscene’s in the game. Everything you see will be rendered in real time.
Update:
An outside source who wishes to remain anonymous has emailed in to confirm that Killzone 2 will not have any CGI, all movies/cutscenes are real time. Some of them might be videos, recorded in real time.

ok..question is then, if that intro we saw lately on GT was also in game engine…i realy doubt it.
I don’t know, the graphics from the intro do match those of in-game; the reason it looks so different is because of the background. Since it goes from a different color to another in such short time makes it seem CGI. Then again, buy the game, play it and then tell me yourself.
That was the intro to the game, not a cutscene.
The cutscenes are like the ones in Corinth River when you’re coming down on the ISA dropship but it sort of crash lands on to the river bank.
Either post a valid link to the post saying “no CGI, only real time” or just shut up. This article links to a msg about no plans for a Killzone CGI movie, not a word about CGI in the game.
If this is true than Xbox 720 will have to come out really soon.
The intro was CG. Killzone 1 intro was CG, Killzone Liberation intro was CG and so is the Killzone 2 intro CG. Traditions people, we have to remember the traditions.
So…what is score now?
Sony PS3 Killzone 1 million
Xbots 0
I’ve never seen a game so humilate a group of fanboys as Killzone 2.
I want the demo before the damn game is released… I CANNOT WAIT!
Suck it 360 fanboys =D
MY guess? The answer is OBVIOUSLY NOT CGI
Think about it: The in game videos, while impressive, are not even close to the target renders from almost FOUR YEARS AGO. How can CGI quality DEGRADE over the course of four years?
KZ2 seems like a visually stunning game, but they did fail to meet the target renders. Just take a second look at the amazing 2005 E3 trailer and you’ll see for yourself.
Don’t forget that pre-recorded in-engine videos are in a scripted and limited environment and can therefore achieve a better visual performance.
Come now. Surely you know that common sense is not allowed here.
The intro cut scene for Killzone 2 CG or not looks better than the 2005 E3 target video. If that truly is real time rendering then Killzone 2 surpasses the 2005 target video.

When will it stop….hopefully never
