Everybody say this is probably the worst kept secret, and they’re probably right. On the website of Kmart ahead of Sony’s announcement at Gamescom, you can see this
That is correct, the PS3 slim has been given a release date of August 24th (for the US atleast). Though no spec details are currently known for the PS3 Slim, the only thing we’re certain about is the price of $299,99.
In a few hours we will hopefully have more information on Sony’s Gamescom presentation.

Ahh finally the PS3 Slim. After checking out my friends gigantic PS3 I decided to hold off and get the Slim. I figured they would release it eventually. Woot!
I’ve read from Kotaku that PS3 has a same features and function. It has 120 gb drive 33 percent smaller, 36 percent lighter. The price is $299. And its release date will vary by region but available everywhere by sept 11.
You won’t be able to install another OS on the Slim also.
A lot of kids are going to want one for Christmas
Indeed, if Sony plays it right, they’ll introduce some sort of Home Media package including the Blu-ray remote and some movies around that time.
