The Japanese Street Fighter IV blog has revealed that there is a sequel in the works and is coming soon. It’s won’t be a new addition in the series but rather a new version of Street Fighter IV.

The Street Fighter IV power up pack has finally arrived and is now available. The download is a small 16mb and adds the Championship Mode and replay functionality.

But are they good enough for the PlayStation to to beat their competitors. It seems not. Once the greatest playground of PlayStation to sell units, they are not able to get a decent foothold over the Xbox 360.

In recent numbers from NPD Nintendo had dominated in hardware sales (sounds familiar).

• DS: 588,000
• Xbox 360: 391,000
• PS3: 276,000
• PSP: 199,000
• PS2: 131,000

And software number were no different. Though Street FIghter IV managed to sell a combined of almost 900,000 on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Wii Fit still reigned supreme. Street Fighter IV sold 50,000 units less on the PlayStation 3 then the Xbox 360.
There was some good news for Sony though. Killzone 2 managed to sell 323,000 times in less then 48 hours. Landing on a 5th place. Those were the only two titles that managed to get in the top 10.

Earlier last week, Capcom posted on their blog how they discovered that many users already unlocked Akuma but found that there is a quicker way to get him (and Gouken) then most user created guides showed.

Here is the step by step walk through:

To unlock Akuma as a playable character:

1. Unlock Cammy, Fei Long, Dan, Sakura, Rose, and Gen.
2. Pick a character you have already used to beat Arcade Mode.
3. Win all your matches without continuing and without losing any rounds before fighting with Seth.

You need to get at least one “perfect” win in a round, and more than one depending on how many rounds per match you are playing.

• 1 round match: 1 perfect round or more
• 3 round match: 2 perfect rounds or more
• 5 round match: 3 perfect rounds or more
• 7 round match: 4 perfect rounds or more

(including the last battle against Seth)

If you meet these conditions, Akuma will appear. Defeat him to unlock Akuma as a selectable character.

To unlock Gouken as a playable character:

1. Complete Arcade Mode playing as Akuma and watch (not necessary to watch everything) an ending
2. Then, unlock Gouken as an opponent, and defeat him

Necessary conditions to unlock Gouken as an opponent:

• Play with any characters with which you watched the ending once (so play using a character you have already beaten the game with)
• Do not continue at all.
• Do not lose at all. Not even one round (easier if you only play 1-round matches)
• Achieve certain number (or more) of “Perfect” rounds

The number of Perfect Win you need to achieve are:

If you play on

• 1 round match: 1 time or more
• 3 round match: 2 times or more
• 5 round match: 3 times or more
• 7 round match: 4 times or more

Achieve a certain number (or more) of Super Combo -OR- Ultra Combo Finishes. Super and Ultra finishes both count toward this number.

The number of super/ultra finishes you need to achieve are:

If you play on

• 1 round match: 3 times or more
• 3 round match: 5 times or more
• 5 round match: 7 times or more
• 7 round match: 9 times or more

Achieve certain number (or more) of First Attack (this means you must score the first strike in a match–the screen gives you the “First Attack” message, and you can mostly do this without even noticing):

The number of First Attack you need to achieve are:

If you play on

• 1 round match: 5 times or more
• 3 round match: 10 times or more
• 5 round match: 15 times or more
• 7 round match: 20 times or more

Then Gouken will appear. Kick his butt to unlock him!

If you just want to get the characters, try it on easy mode.

Street Fighter IV is a great game, plays good and looks good but the one thing is that it has a hard learning curve. Alot of people have been emailing in saying that this game is way too hard for them especially on the last boss fight. We did a bit of searching around for some tutorials and got some pretty good results.

Capcom have announced that they have shipped 2 million copies of Street Fighter IV worldwide. Capcom had high expectation for the fighting game and it was the attempt to bring the series back alive. When the game was released in Japan the game sold out in every store.

Street Fighter IV sold more on the Playstation 3 than the Xbox 360 in the first week. 86,075 for the PS3 version and 37,782 for the 360 version.

Many of you are wondering whether Capcom will be adding new characters to Street Fighter IV. We have the answer right here, you need to pester Capcom for more characters and they will deliver.

Capcom has told Famitsu that with enough demand they may be adding more characters to the current roster.

producer Yoshinori Ono said:

We want them in!’ Honestly, we did the modeling up to the pre-texturing. We made the fight settings for T. Hawk in Street Fighter IV… If users make their voices known, this prep work is something we can revive at anytime.

A day ahead of the official release date of Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter‭ ‬2‭ ‬Turbo HD Remix will be on the PlayStation Store for £11.99‭.
It took a while but it’s finally here after delays. But is it out in a smart period? In our opinion it isn’t. You are able to get Street Fighter IV for only 16 pounds more, which offers your a 3D view. Capcom was however quick to calm fears by saying to Edge Online

We don’t fear a contemporaneous release will cannibalize sales of either Street Fighter title,‭ ‬‬both are different games at different price points. We are sure Street Fighter fans consider the games to be different experiences

So with tomorrows Store update, you will be able to download atleast one new full game from the store in Europe.

Not much has changed in the New Year for PlayStation in the US. Sales are still down for the PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and no software title in the top 10.

Something to get worried about, you would think. It seems that consumer in America are really going after the cheap consoles. Is this because they can eventually ‘upgrade’ their SKU making the initial price more attractive? It seems so. There is no denying that Microsoft’s current business model for the 360 fits well in the current economic climate.

Of course it’s expected that there would be a big decline after a holiday month but the PlayStation’s competitors are doing better (yet again).
Compared to last year, Microsoft (25.5) and Nintendo (59.5%) managed to sell more then in January 2008. While the PSP dropped from 230.000 to 172,300 and the PS3 from 269.000 to 203,200. If you follow the results from January 2007, numbers have been down by 16.6% for the PS3.

And the bad news continued on the software front as Nintendo and Microsoft dominated the top 10. With the top three spots belonging to Wii titles such as Wii Fit, Wii play and Mario Cart Wii. Other titles in the list included Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty: World at War and Skate 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour (Wii), New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS and Lord of the Rings: Conquest (360) closing the list.

Indeed, January has not been a good month for PlayStation brand, but we’re looking forward to this month’s numbers with big hitters like Street Fighter IV and Killzone 2 dropping soon to put up a fight.

We just hope that Sony will realize that Europe is their ‘new’ US even if it’s for a short period.

Capcom has announced the first expansion pack for Street Fighter IV. The pack is called Championship Mode and will add several new features and gameplay enhancements.

• Replay Mode – Record, upload, and download top matches to share with the Street Fighter IV community. Players can analyze top tiered fighters matches, leave voter feedback for others, and share their own triumphant victories.
• New Points System – Two new points systems to measure your skill (Championship and Tournament Points)
• Enhanced Tournament Matching System – Skill level matching system offers improved tournament match making for beginners and mid-level players. Competitors earn Grade Points (GP) to earn entry into more advanced tournaments.

Additionally, we are announcing the DLC alternate costume expansion packs for Street Fighter IV to customize your fighters. Each DLC pack offers an alternate costume for you favorite Street Fighter IV character. The packs are grouped by themes and will be available for 320 MS points for Xbox 360 or $3.99 on PlayStation 3 post launch.

Street Fighter IV will be released in the next couple of weeks.

IF your wondering whether you will be able to fight anyone overseas in Street Fighter IV, it’s good news. In the latest edition of the Famitsu Magazine, Capcom has confirmed that the online versus servers for the game will be worldwide and not region locked. This will not be the equivalent of the arcades guild mode, which allowed players to join guilds and record their wins and losses.

Also, there is a little bonus for Playstation 3 owners as Capcom confirmed that PS3 owners will have the joy to watch anime intros for each character in the arcade mode. Is this because of the added space Blu-Ray provides?

The game is scheduled to be released on the 17th of February 2009.

The arcade-like pad might raise some eyebrows as some will claim it is simply cheating. Storing a combo and just pressing one button isn’t ‘fair’. This unit that supports the PS3 will probably draw most of the Street Fighter 4 buyers and maybe Tekken and Soul Calibure gamers. Check out the video to see how it work.

Capcom have a number of blockbuster titles being released in the first half of 2009, these include Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV.

For the people in the UK, Street Fighter IV will be the first game, released on the 20th of Feb 09 and then Resident Evil 5 will follow, being released on the 13th of March 09.

Other great games from Capcom include Bionic Commando which will be released after Resident Evil 5.

Capcom Europe has given some details for the Limited Edition copy of Street Fighter IV. The limited edition will come in a handy box, that has a fight scene. You will get a Ryu and Crimson Viper figurines. A bonus disc will be included with trailers of the game, and a full length anime movie. You’ll get a little strategy guide for the new characters, and some exclusive downloadable content. You’ll be able to pick your copy of this come February 20, 2009.

Two new characters have been revealed for Street Fighter 4. They are called Cammy and GEN. Below is some new information on the game.

• GEN has some new upgrades Like an Anti-air grab and an Ultra Move that dashes him from side to side. Also has two fighting styles.
• There is online mode for some that were dying to Know.
• The 360, Ps3, and Pc will bring a slew of additional character.
• Home Console will receive Several Extra characters.
• Cammy style Doesn’t replicate her history as an assassin, She the basic from back in super Street Fighter2. Moves are being expand Ono explains We’re are Using the base for expanding upon it, So there may be ways to connect these moves together to make new combo that people couldn’t do before.
• Ono hints were going to engineer the home version of the game so you can actually play in arcade mode and you can turn on a function that would allow matchmaking in the background, so you could just have someone jumps in the game exactly as they would at the Arcade. The function can be configure to ranked or player matches or quick warm-up rounds.

The producer of upcoming fighting game Street Fighter IV has said that it’s fair for both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions to have the same characters in the game. Yoshinori Ono spoke with VideoGamer.com and basically said that he doesn’t believe in platform exclusive characters and didn’t think it would be fair.

“Well this is just my policy, but I don’t want to give an exclusive character for any particular console. And that applies to downloadable characters as well. Because it’s not very fair, when you think about this as a board game or a tool. Hidden characters? If we’re going to talk about hidden characters they won’t be hidden any more!”

if you was waiting to see if there are any platform exclusive characters, you’ve just found out. Buy the PS3 version!

The producer of Street Fighter IV Yoshinori Ono has spoken about the recent rumors stating that SFIV will be released around the same time as the movie.

Ono in an interview told VideoGamer.com that Capcom’s R&D team has no idea about the suggested timing and stated that the publisher still doesn’t know when the console version of the game will be released.

Ono said:

“Our R&D team didn’t know much about this timing! They are just put under pressure by those people sitting outside. So at the moment development time wise, we’ve just about managed to take on the arcade version on console. Obviously we have to balance the game and add on the other features for the console version. We’re just working on it. We still don’t know.”

It could be out this year in time for Christmas, but don’t hold your hopes up.

It’s looking like Street Fighter IV won’t be released anytime soon after recently stating that it will be released in 2009 in conjunction with the movie.

It appears that Street Fighter IV will be released sometime in 2009 – around the same time as the movie. Speaking with Gamedaily, Patrick Aiello the films producer said that Capcom is releasing Street Fighter IV in 2009, the film and game release dates will coincide.

BIZ: Back in 1994, Capcom had the video game movie and then they released a new game based on the movie featuring Jean Claude Van Damme. Are there potential crossovers for you guys with Street Fighter IV?

PA: Capcom is releasing Street Fighter IV in 2009, which is the 20th anniversary of the game. The film and game release dates will coincide, but I’m not certain how much of the game will coincide with the story because ours is a very partitioned off origin story of the Street Fighter universe. So the release dates will coincide, elements between the two will coincide, but in terms of them relating to each other perfectly, I don’t believe that’s the case.
